Third Age total war is hands down one of the best mods of Medieval 2. Maybe even THE best mod. I'd recommend Stainless Steel as the best mod overall, Broken Crescent as the best mod focusing on a specific reason and Lands to Conquer as a good overhaul of vanilla, with Third Age (post above) as the best total conversion, hands down.
